The Doomsday Workout: 12-21-12

Brandon Hahn December 8, 2012 Training Articles

It’s the end of the world as we know it. Those are the popular lyrics that are supposed to ring true come December 21, 2012. According to some historians, as we all have become aware, the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. In celebration of this day, it’s time for a doomsday workout. It is going to be brutal, but why not go out with a bang? Get your headsets ready, because a playlist will be included!

What better bodypart(s) to work than legs. Yeah buddy, it’s goin’ down! The last workout of your life is about to begin! Each exercise will have a song along with a rep tempo. By the time you move on to the next exercise, the next song should begin. But don’t worry, like the Mayan’s, we have this down to a “science”.

Rep Tempo:

1st number: Eccentric Portion (lowering of the weight)
2nd number: Bottom Position (holding the weight)
3rd number: Concentric Portion (lifting the weight)
4th number: Transition Portion (period between lifting and lowering the weight)
Numbers: Listed in seconds. The X means lift with max force, but remain under control

Exercise: Wall Sits

Song: Don’t Believe The Hype by Public Enemy (Length – 5:20)
Rep Tempo: Hold as long as you flippin can!
Rest: 90

What better way to close out a workout than a little number by Public Enemy. This song is long, so I have some big goals for my AX community!

Alrighty, it’s time to head out in style everyone! This leg workout should have you feeling drained before you make your final departure. A word to the wise, if someone offers you a free post-workout shake, don’t drink it!

Maybe we will create a full series that has other bodypart. We wanted this one to kill and nothing kills more than legs!

You are welcome to superset if you wish. You will need to cut the rest periods in half. I’m not sure what bodypart(s) you are wishing to superset, so I cannot offer suggestion until I have that detail.
